The technology is for assessing bridges, tunnels and buildings.

Concrete scannerSemcon and ELOP have signed a product development agreement, whereby they will collaboratively develop concrete scanners for critical infrastructure, to be ready for commercial sales later this year.

The systems will use ELOP’s patented Cobri ultrasound scanning technology to collect condition assessment data for concrete infrastructure, including bridges, tunnels and buildings. Semcon will contribute digital product information to simplify the scanners’ use and servicing.

“We are excited to work with Semcon,” says ELOP’s CEO, Kjersti Kanne. “Their expertise in industrialization will assist ELOP in developing the Cobri scanner into a robust, user-friendly solution.”

“We are looking forward to provide all our experience from material technology, embedded electronics development, design for manufacturing, user experience (UX) design, product information and overall systems design,” says Hans Peter Havdal, a Semcon area manager.
